New Ideal Market excites, caters to Ascension Parish Hispanic community
GONZALES, La. (BRPROUD) — Ideal Market has opened its biggest store in Gonzales, offering the community with a place to purchase all types of Hispanic products and food. Maria Medrano, who lives in Donaldsonville, is from Zacatecas, Mexico. Once a week, Medrano commutes one hour to Ideal Market in Baton Rouge for her food necessities, she said.
Louisiana man accused of shooting, killing his wife
The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that left a woman dead and her husband in jail. APSO said Sean Morris, 50, of Gonzales was charged with second-degree murder, illegal use of weapons, and eight counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

A Gonzales man has been arrested in the fatal shooting of his wife, the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office said Thursday. Sean Morris, 50, was booked into the Ascension Parish jail on counts of second-degree murder, illegal use of weapons and eight counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, Sheriff Bobby Webre said in a news release.

The menu includes six or 10-piece wings with different flavors such as Jamaican mango heat, pineapple yaki, garlic parmesan, honey lemon pepper and honey BBQ.
November 5 election to effect more change to Ascension’s political landscape
Three weeks from today candidates for November 5 elections will begin qualifying (July 17-19). In addition to the turnout inducing U.S. Presidential/Congressional elections, the local ballot will include two vacant District Court judgeships along with municipal elections in two of Ascension’s three municipalities. Uncertainty abounds, especially in the City of Gonzales where more than half of the incumbency will not seek reelection to their currently occupied positions.

DONALDSONVILLE, La. (WAFB) - The 23rd Judicial District Court announced the following guilty pleas entered during the week of June 17 - June 21, 2024:. 1. Jaris Howard, 1103 Maginnis St. Donaldsonville, LA, age 41, pled guilty to Manslaughter and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. The defendant was sentenced to 25 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The said sentence is to be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.
