The layoffs continue this week in Texas.

Under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, employers with more than 100 full-time workers must provide 60 days' notice before laying off 50 or more employees at a single site. This week, two more companies have lodged WARN notices with the Texas Workforce Commission.

Southwestern Health Resources laid off 129 people in Farmers Branch this week while MTC Medical LLC is laying off 218 staff at the end of September.

These WARN notices are the latest in a series of mass layoffs that have affected Texas this week.

    • MII Technologies advised that 57 staff in San Antonio will be laid off on October 31.
    • Equus Workforce Solutions lodged multiple WARN notices stating that staff would be laid off across multiple locations. In total, staff across ten locations will be laid off. These include Burnet, Johnson City, Lockhart, San Marcos, Bastrop, Giddings, Round Rock, and Llano.
    • Texas Children’s Hospital, the largest pediatric hospital in the nation, announced on Tuesday it will lay off 5% of its workforce amid financial challenges.
    • Dell Technologies, the Texas-based tech giant, announced a new wave of layoffs and restructuring focused on artificial intelligence, as detailed in a memo to employees on Monday, August 5. This move is part of a broader effort to streamline operations and enhance efficiency within the company.
