ASHE COUNTY — An enthusiastic and inquisitive group of Ashe County Republicans gathered with Bryson Weaver, the Northwest Regional Political Director for the NCGOP and the Trump Regional Field Director for Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Caldwell, Surry, Watauga, and Wilkes counties.

Last Thursday evening at the Ashe County NC Republican Women’s Club and Ashe GOP headquarters, Weaver shared with the attendees the plans and organizational tools in place and being crafted to advance and secure a win for the Republican ticket in our region. He spoke encouragingly about the historically strong Republican election turnout in our area but also stressed the need to avoid any tendency toward overconfidence when it comes to the need to ensure every conservative voter knows who the conservative candidates are and how and when to vote. Nationwide the Republican Party is encouraging voters to participate in Early Voting.

The in-person Early Voting period for the 2024 General Election begins Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024, at 8 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024. The general election is on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024. The Ashe Board of Elections has asked that voters be reminded to bring their ID whether voting in the Early Voting or in the General Election. The designated Early Voting sites for Ashe County will be available on the Ashe Board of Elections website and at vt.ncsbe.gov/EVSite/ once they have been assigned.

Weaver invited attendees to commit to participation in one or more of the activities planned to get the message and the vote out for this General Election. Several members of the Ashe GOP and the Ashe County NC Republican Women cheerfully volunteered. Mr. Weaver recognized and lauded the efforts and teams already in place in the Ashe GOP for getting the local voters informed and involved.

The evening was concluded following a lively period of questions and answers as attendees inquired on several topics including ensuring voting integrity and effective methods for communicating the conservative message in the region.

For more information come by the joint Ashe County NC Republican Women’s Club (ACNCRW) and the Ashe GOP headquarters office which is now open Wednesday through Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. Hours will soon be extended to some evenings as well.

The next ACNCRW meeting is Thursday, June 27, at 11 a.m. in Glendale Springs. All Ashe County conservatives are welcome. If you would like to participate in the catered luncheon for $20 which includes salad, entrée, drink, tax, and tip RSVP to jeniferfalls1@outlook.com. There is no charge if you choose not to eat.

Also on June 27, at 8:30 p.m., Ashe County citizens are gathering to watch the first presidential debate of 2024 in the commissioner’s courtroom on the third floor of the Ashe County Courthouse.
