Brevard football tight end Dillon Galloway announced his commitment to Appalachian State on Saturday on social media.

He committed to the Mountaineers over Chattanooga, Gardner-Webb and Kennesaw State.

Galloway has played tight end and defensive end for the Blue Devils.

Last season, he caught 19 passes for 167 yards and four touchdowns. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound senior also helped Brevard rush for 2,548 yards and 26 touchdowns. On defense, he tallied 10 tackles, two tackles for a loss, three sacks, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble.

Galloway said he takes the most pride in his run blocking.

"I try to do a little bit of everything, but definitely run block," Galloway said last month. "I feel like that's my thing, the physicality and putting people in the dirt."

One of the best pieces of advice he got about playing tight end came from Appalachian State tight end coach Justin Watts.

"You can't be great at everything," Galloway said about what Watts told him. "But the one thing you can do. It doesn't take any talent is putting people in the dirt and finishing blocks."

Brevard coach Luke Coleman said having Galloway at tight end makes him feel like has has an extra offensive tackle out there. Since taking over Brevard in 2022, Coleman added that Galloway has added 50 pounds.

"It's like having an extra tackle on the field because he is 6-foot-4, 240," Coleman said. "So when you put him over there, he's bigger than some of the offensive tackles we play on offense."

Galloway also played a critical role in the Brevard reaching the third round of the NCHSAA 2A playoffs and winning the Mountain Foothills 7 conference championship.

He was also named the best tight end and the sixth-best class of 2025 prospect this offseason.

Galloway is also the second WNC prospect to commit to Appalachian State. Reynolds running back Max Guest committed to the Mountaineers earlier this offseason.
