    Vote: Citizen Times and Times-News fall sports Week 1 boys athlete of the week

    The first week of the 2024 North Carolina high school fall sports season has flown by.

    Now it's time to look back and vote on the top performances from boys athletes in Western North Carolina last week.

    Vote for the male athlete who had the best performance last week. The poll closes on Thursday at noon. If the poll doesn't appear, click here .

    WNC boys athlete of the week poll for Week 1

    Josh Ellis, Asheville High: Ellis rushed for 195 yards and three touchdowns on nine carries, rushing for a long of 78 yards in Asheville's 42-6 win over Tuscola. He also had a 14-yard receiving touchdown.

    Marvyn Larozar, Asheville School: Larozar led the Blues with 127 yards rushing, scoring two touchdowns in a 49-7 win vs. Hayesville.

    Braylon Thompson, Brevard: Thompson rushed 19 times for 96 and a touchdown yards in a 35-0 win vs. Pisgah.

    Tre Graves, Hayesville: Graves carried the ball 21 times for 122 yards and a touchdown, but the Yellow Jackets lost 49-7 to Asheville School.

    Ryan Payne, Murphy: Payne caught seven passes for 136 yards and a touchdown in a 33-13 loss to Franklin.

    Andrew Hardin, Pisgah: Hardin scored four goals to lead the Bears to an 8-0 victory against Murphy.

    Eduin Maldonado, Smoky Mountain: Maldonado scored four goals, helping Smoky Mountain to a 6-1 win against Highlands. He also had an assist.

    Zane McCraw, West Henderson: McCraw rushed for 211 yards and four touchdowns on 18 carries while returning an interception for a touchdown in a 51-33 win vs. Newton-Conover.
