    Land of Oz in Beech Mountain, N.C. hosts the annual Autumn at Oz Festival, celebrating the 85th anniversary of the classic MGM film, “The Wizard of Oz,” Sept. 6 – 18, 13 – 15 and 20 – 22. Tickets and details are available at landofoznc.com .

    Parents Night Out is 5:15 – 9 p.m. Sept. 6 at Asheville YMCA (30 Woodfin St.). A small snack will be provided. If you chose to bring a snack for your child, the snack must be nut free.     Junior Wildwalk is 9:30-11 a.m. Sept. 7 at WNC Nature Center. Meet an animal ambassador, take a peek behind-the-scenes, and step into the shoes of animal keepers by helping to prepare and deliver enrichment for animals during this immersive experience. Ages 5-12. An adult is required to attend with the children in a group. Tickets include admission for the day and a 10% discount coupon for the gift shop valid only for the day of the event. For tickets, visit wildwnc.org/calendar .

    World Wanderings is at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Columbus Library. A new program for kids ages 5+ and their families! Each month, explore a new country and their holiday traditions through food and other activities. In September, learn about South Korea and their Chuseok (harvest festival) holiday.     Read to a Dog! with Evelyn the Goldendoodle at 4 p.m. Sept. 10 at the East Asheville Library. Practice reading with a furry pal at the library and improve your skills with the listening ear of a certified therapy dog from the Alliance of Therapy Dogs.     Teen Scene: Pizza Cooking Class is at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 11 at the Columbus Library. Grades 6-12 can learn how to make pizza using a mobile kitchen. Registration required. Email jdickenson@polklibrary.org to sign up. Please note that adults other than library staff, volunteers, and presenters are not permitted to stay in the meeting room during teen programs.

    The 19 th annual WNC Run/Walk for Autism is Sept. 14 at Bill Moore Community Park in Fletcher. This community event raises funds to support local autism programs. Deadline to register is noon Sept. 11.  For details, visit wncrunwalkforautism.com .

    The ASAP (Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project) 2024 Farm Tour is noon-5 p.m. Sept. 21-22. All 21 farms are located within an hour of Asheville. Experience working farms through guided and self-guided tours, demonstrations, interacting with farm animals, u-pick fruit and flowers, local food and drink tastings, and more. Spanish-language tours will be offered at several farms. The Farm Tour is appropriate for attendees of all ages and abilities. Advance passes are on sale for $35. One pass admits a carload of visitors to all farms both days. Pending availability, passes purchased the weekend of the tour will be $45.
