The city of Hendersonville amended the city's state of emergency to include a curfew that lasts from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. beginning the night of Sept. 27, the city announced in an evening a news release.

"In order to protect public safety and keep people off the roads, many of which are impassable due to downed trees, power lines, and flooding, Mayor Barbara Volk has updated the City of Hendersonville’s state of Emergency to include a curfew from 8 PM to 8 AM. We appreciate the community's cooperation as we work to restore critical services in the City," the news release read.

The curfew limits and prevents the "presence and movement of people in public places and shall restrict and prevent the presence and movement of all persons on and about all public and private streets, and public vehicular areas," according to the declaration.

Exceptions are given to law enforcement, firefighters, city staff that are responding in an emergency management capacity, utilities personnel, emergency medical personnel, personnel employed by a medical facility, such as a hospital or urgent care, and persons traveling to and from work, according to the release.

The curfew will be in effect for "every day that this declaration is in effect, or until removed by amendment to this declaration," according to the release.
