Two arrested for drug trafficking at WNC hotel

Two people have been arrested for drug trafficking at a Western North Carolina hotel. The Asheville Police Department says an investigation was launched into drug activity at a hotel on Tunnel Road.

Monday afternoon, 53 year old Brandi Haynes and 33 year old, Christopher Hammett were arrested.

Detectives executed a search warrant and found more than 5 ounces of meth, over half an ounce of crack, nearly 3 grams of fentanyl and a pistol.

Haynes is charged with trafficking meth, multiple counts of possession with intent to distribute, a weapons violation and other charges. Hammett is charged with possession with intent to distribute, drug possession and resisting arrest.
