Asheville police request help in assault investigation

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) — Detectives with the Asheville Police Department need the public’s help in identifying eight individuals of interest in an assault case.
According to the Asheville Police Department, officers responded to the West Asheville Library around 2:57 p.m. on Saturday after reports of a fight. At the time of the incident, between 80 and 100 people were at the library attending an ACAB seminar titled “Strategic Lessons from the Palestinian Resistance.”
Officers arrived to a large crowd dispersing.

Reports state they were able to identify three victims who said a fight broke out while they were live-streaming the event on social media. Victims told officers another attendee took one of their phones before a large crowd attacked and assaulted them, leaving the victims with minor injuries.
Following an investigation, officers arrested Taylor Danielle Zarkin, 35, who was charged with two counts of resisting, delay and obstruction.
