ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) – Another man has been identified and charged in reference to an assault at an Asheville library in June.

The Asheville Police Department charged 33-year-old Tyler Byrne Hackett Kelly with ethnic intimidation for his reported actions at the West Asheville Library.

On June 29, officers responded to the West Asheville Library after reports of a fight. Almost 100 people were at the library attending an ACAB seminar titled “Strategic Lessons from the Palestinian Resistance.”

Reports stated police saw three victims who reported that a fight broke out while they were live-streaming the event on social media. The victims told officers another attendee took one of their phones before a large crowd attacked and assaulted them, leaving the victims with minor injuries.

Following an investigation, officers arrested Taylor Danielle Zarkin, 35, who was charged with two counts of resisting, delay and obstruction.

On July 16, officers also charged 34-year-old Michael Solomon Brocenos for his involvement in the assault.

Detectives said they are continuing to investigate the assault and ask for the public’s help in locating Kelly and identifying other persons of interest.

Kelly is described as 5’11 with red hair and blue eyes. He is known to frequent the Haywood Road area of West Asheville.

Anyone with information about Kelly’s whereabouts is asked to contact APD by texting TIP2APD to 847411 or calling (828) 252-1110.
