    How did residents vote in Cheatham, Dickson, Robertson, Sumner Counties' contested races?

    Unofficial election results are in for Cheatham, Dickson, Robertson and Sumner Counties, where a handful of local races were contested on Aug. 1.

    Thousands flocked to the polls to cast ballots early and on Election Day.

    In Cheatham County, there were 2,261 residents who voted early, according to the Cheatham County Election Commission. Cheatham County has 28,680 registered voters and 3,850, or a little more than 13.4%, voted in this election.

    In Robertson County, there were 1,269 residents who voted early and 127 voted by absentee ballot, according to the Robertson County Election Commission. Robertson County has 49,433 registered voters and 3,416, or a little more than 6.9%, voted in this election.

    In Sumner County, 9,502 residents voted early and 467 voted by absentee ballot, according to the Sumner County Election Commission. Sumner County has 135,444 registered voters and 19,700, or a little more than 14.5%, voted in this election.

    Here are the local race recaps, with all precincts reporting, including early and absentee votes:

    Cheatham

    Town of Ashland City Mayor

    • Gerald Greer: 340
    • Kody Knight: 26
    • J.T. Smith: 304

    Gerald Greer defeated incumbent J.T. Smith and candidate Kody Knight in Thursday's Town of Ashland City mayoral race. Greer secured 340 votes, beating out Smith by a mere 36 votes, according to the Cheatham County Election Commission.

    Greer aims to manage Ashland City's growth in a financially responsible way and make the city safe for residents and the business community, he said.

    "Ashland City is growing," Greer said during his campaign.

    "As your mayor I will manage this growth in a financially responsible way, always with our taxpayers in mind. My goal is to make Ashland City a safe and attractive home for current and future residents, young and old, as well as for our growing business community."

    Town of Ashland City 1st Ward

    Incumbent Michael W. Smith won by a vote of 369 to 244.

    Town of Pegram Alderman

    • Christopher Crump: 120
    • Randy Fiedler: 27
    • Leah Louallen: 215
    • Miranda Montgomery: 275
    • Bob Sanders: 217
    • Hope Tinsley: 42

    Miranda Montgomery and Bob Sanders won seats on the Town of Pegram Board of Mayor and Alderman Thursday. Sanders won by just two votes over candidate Leah Louallen, who had 215 votes.

    Dickson

    School Board District 5

    • Joe Underwood (Republican): 350
    • Sherri Thiel (Independent): 551

    Independent Sherri Thiel won a seat on the school board over Republican challenger and incumbent Joe Underwood. She secured the seat by more than 200 votes, according to the Dickson County Election Commission.

    Robertson

    School Board Zone 5

    Incumbent Stephen Ayres won a seat on the school board over Republican challenger John (Jay) Lawrence by a vote of 429 to 338, according to the Robertson County Election Commission.

    City of Greenbrier Alderman Ward 2

    • Toni Carver (Independent): 33
    • Jeff DeLong (Independent): 69

    Incumbent Jeff DeLong secured a majority of the votes Thursday and was re-elected to the City of Greenbrier Board of Mayor and Alderman.

    Sumner

    School Board Member District 8

    Republican Meghan Breinig won against Independent challenger Todd Stephens. Breinig won a seat on the school board by a vote of 1,099 to 614, according to the Sumner County Election Commission.

    Incumbent Ted Wise did not seek reelection.

    School Board Member District 9

    Republican Kathy Stuart won against Democratic challenger Holly Cruz and Independent challenger Josh Graham for a seat on the school board. Stuart secured 1,113 votes, while Cruz had 704 and incumbent Graham had 404.

    Several other races were decided in the March primary and were uncontested in the general election.
