'Jacks pounce on Cougars then drop two

The Northland College LumberJacks baseball team took down the host Minnesota-Morris Cougars 15-11 on April 5 in the first of their three game series; securing their first win of the season in the UMAC. Leading the offensive eruption for Northland College was senior Vinny Troccoli with two home runs and eight runs batted in. Troccoli did more than bite into the Cougars offensively, however. He also pitched 3-⅓ innings to earn a win after following starter junior Andrew Birko, who gave the 'Jacks 4-⅔ strong innings. Junior Anthony Boyle ended the game on the mound by striking out the two batters he faced. The series continued its offensive fireworks with Northland dropping the final two games to UM-M despite scoring nine and seventeen runs respectively in those contests. Northland hosts Northwestern-St. Paul for a three game series on April 12-13, the second day being a double-header.
