Iron City rocks Orioles

The Upper 13 race tightened on June 30 when the scrappy Iron City

Miners ground past the Gliddon Orioles 12-8; preventing the Orioles

from what would have been a perch atop of the U13. Without playing,

the Washburn Sharptails soared into first place, with results from the

annual July 4 game yet to be reported. Look for the ‘Sharps to

maintain the inside track to season’s end and claim their second

consecutive title, but tough games remain in a league seemingly more

balanced than in recent prior seasons. Not to be missed for Bay Area

fans is the July 12 All-Star game which will again be held at Pufall

Field in Ashland.
