    Former Cardinal flies to Olympics

    From the South Shore Cardinals girls basketball team, to becoming the leading scorer in State of Wisconsin' girls basketball history, to being honored as the 2019 NCAA Division 1 Naismith women's basketball player of the year, to currently playing for the WNBA Las Vegas Aces, the Bay Area's own Megan Gustafson now adds Olympian to her list of accomplishments as she joins the Spanish Olympic Team after leading the squad in scoring and rebounding during qualifying tournaments.

    Spain will be part of the elite 12 team Olympic field. Granted citizenship in Spain earlier this year, Gustafson — who also played a key role in helping the the London Lions win the EuroCup championship this past spring —will begin action with her team on July 28 in preliminary round Group A against China at 6:30 a.m., CST. Spain will then face Puerto Rico on July 31 at 4 a.m., CST, before concluding preliminary round play against Serbia on Aug. 3 at 6:30 a.m. CST. All three games are available for viewing online.
