Clam Lake man set for arraignment on sexual assault charges

A man accused of sexually assaulting a relative is scheduled for arraignment.

Jeffrey M. Hanson, 41, appeared in court earlier this month for his preliminary hearing. He faces a second-degree sexual assault charge and a charge for causing a child aged 13-18 to the view a sexual act, both stemming from an incident on April 5 in Gordon.

According to court documents, the victim viewed Hanson pulling down his pants before performing sexual acts on her while she lay face down. She tried to stop him, but he overpowered her.

While he was doing this, another young teen witnessed the act, the court documents state. Hanson eventually stopped when the victim’s father came downstairs and into the room.

Arraignment, the proceeding at which the defendant is formally charged and is asked to enter a plea is set for Aug. 19.
