Cashing in on big night

A near capacity crowd witnessed hard driving Shane Sabraski claim nearly $36,000 in purses at the ABC Raceway on Aug. 10 as the fourth annual 444 Memorial closed out the XR Events’ week-long Northern Storm Series. ABC’s program, which included drivers from as far away as South Dakota and Thunder Bay, Canada, honored late racer Tanner Byholm and his parents Bill and Michelle and was presented by Ashland Ford-Chrysler Center and Mid-States Hydraulics.. It capped a six-night, six-track schedule with the final purse payout being the largest in ABC Raceway history

ABC concludes its regular season on Aug. 17, with the Mountain Dew Championship Saturday Night, presented by North Star Beverage of Hurley. Also included in the finale program will be the rescheduled Kids’ Backpack Giveaway, presented by the Ashland Area Chamber of Commerce, as well as Teacher and School Administrator Appreciation Night, presented by WIMI, 99.7 FM, of Ironwood, MI. The WISSOTA Super Stocks and Pure Stocks and the ABC Six-Cylinders will rejoin the Modifieds and Midwest Mods, and the season champions in all four classes will be crowned. The grandstand and pit gates will open at 5 p.m., hot laps will start at 6:30, and the first green flag is scheduled to drop at 7 p.m.
