They are the small bottles used by hospitals to store blood. “In which we take blood from patients to look for infections particularly bacteria growing in the blood,” Dr. Kelly Cawcutt, Nebraska Medical Center said. “The shortage means that we don’t have the same capacity and are at risk to not be able to perform that standard test.”

Fremont man sentenced in rollover death
A Fremont man was sentenced Tuesday for a 2023 rollover accident that resulted in another man’s death. Bradley R. Drews, 39, entered a plea of no contest to a first-degree misdemeanor charge of motor vehicle homicide for the accident that claimed the life of Kyle T. Shipman, 37, also of Fremont.

Lincoln man facing $5 million bond in connection with bank, auto parts robberies
LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) - A Lincoln man was formally charged with two counts of armed robbery Thursday in Douglas County Court. Sherman Wade, 43, of Lincoln was extradited to Omaha this week in order to make his first appearance related to two crimes: a robbery of an auto parts store in February, and another robbery of a bank earlier this month.
Gordon-Rushville crews battling fires as area experiences very high fire danger
RUSHVILLE, Neb. - Firefighters in the Gordon-Rushville area are battling two fires amidst very high fire danger conditions. One of the fires is located north of Rushville, approximately one mile south of Hands of Faith, according to Gordon Fire Chief Rich Haller. Haller said that they received a mutual aid call to help and have sent a couple of grass rigs and a tanker to the scene.
