An 83-year-old woman from South Carolina was hospitalized following her visit to Yellowstone National Park this past weekend. According to the National Park Service, the woman was exploring the park near the Storm Point Trail at Yellowstone Lake, when a bison who was "defending its space," charged the woman, goring her and lifting her "about a foot off the ground."

The woman sustained serious injuries and was taken immediately to Lake Medical Clinic, and then flown by helicopter to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. The woman's condition is currently unknown as the incident remains under investigation.
