    Drei Nächte of “A Little Night Music”

    April 26, 7:30 p.m., at Perkinson Center, Chester

    April 27, 7:30 p.m., at St. Christopher’s School, Richmond

    April 28, 3 p.m., at Blackwell Auditorium at Randolph-Macon College, Ashland

    More specifically, two night performances and one afternoon, featuring Mozart’s exquisite “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik” and Symphony No. 27, Victoria Chung performing Jennifer Higdon’s Oboe Concerto, and Stravinsky’s homage to Bach, “Dumbarton Oaks.”

    Ashland Train Day

    April 27, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in downtown Ashland

    Learn railroad history and lore, feel the power of CSX freight trains and the fun of model trains, vintage railroad equipment, a red caboose, and bunches of heavy equipment. Plus kids’ activities and more. FREE.

    Shakespeare’s Birthday: A Celebration of the Bard

    April 27, noon to 5 p.m., at Agecroft Hall, Richmond

    An outdoor party with entertainment, dances, songs, costumed living history staff, and other merry activities. FREE.

    Swine & Brine

    April 27, noon to 8 p.m., at Ardent Craft Ales, Richmond

    Pork and oysters take center stage at this annual festival of food and beer. Supporting players include more seafood, burgers, sides, desserts, and guest pours.

    Plunky & Oneness of Juju

    April 27, 8 and 9:30 p.m., at Révéler Experiences, Richmond

    Saxophonist James “Plunky” Branch is a Richmond treasure, educator, two-time recipient of the NEA Jazz Fellowships, and a vanguard of Afro-centric jazz. Two intimate concerts celebrate his life and legacy, spanning his musical journey.
