Annual explosion returns for Ashland vs. Washburn

With Lake Superior (2-0) struggling to get in Upper 13 Baseball League games due to weather cancellations, it is the Glidden Orioles who are collecting wins enroute to a 5-1 start. Look for Glidden to pull out another win against host Iron City on June 30, but Bay Area baseball fans eyes will be on the Ashland Merchants’ (1-4) and Washburn Sharptails’ (4-1) annual showcase game when the teams square off on July 4 at Ashland’s Pufall Field.

Washburn cannot afford a loss if the ‘Sharps hope to claim a second consecutive Upper 13 title. The Merchants will savor a win that could spoil Washburn’s ascent to the top of the standings.
