    1854

    Asaph Whittlsey and George Kilgore arrived at the Ashland site and felled a tree used in the first house built by white men.

    1884

    Electric lights were turned on for the Superior Lumber Mill—there may be street lights in the future

    1904

    10.000 pounds of Ashland wood was shipped to Eastern markets.

    1934

    Our Band Shell was dedicated. Mayor Dodd proclaimed the building will make Ashland “One of those cities in the Vanguard of those expressing their appreciation of musical instruction.”

    1954

    Ashland will become one of the greatest ports in America, says Admiral Leahy at the centennial celebrations.
