No summer breakIt may be “school’s out for summer” on the campus of Northland College, but the LumberJacks and LumberJills sports teams are not at rest as tournaments, recruiting, and student-athlete academic awards continue to clip along.
RecruitingLong distance recruiting has long been a part of Northland College, which annually welcomes students and student-athletes from across the United States and beyond, and such is the case this fall as well when recruits Lebron Owusu from Ontario, Canada, and Austin Wind from Hamilton, N.J., join the LumberJacks soccer team.
Owusu is a center-back who will help out the backline for the LumberJacks. He is from St. Catharines, Ontario where he attended Sir Winston Churchill High School. Owusu was a two-time All-Star and was named Most Valuable Player of his team.
Wind is a goalkeeper from Hamilton, N.J., who played his last four years at Hamilton High West. He was a three-time varsity athlete, a three-time Academic Varsity Award Winner, a member of the Italian Honors Society, graduated Cum Laude and achieved many more academic achievements. Advancing in his sports and academics is a priority for the standout.
“I’m looking forward to starting my college soccer career and meeting new people during my first year,” said Wind. “I’m also excited to see what internship, study, and academic opportunities are available beyond my first year.”
