Victims identified in fatal crash

Authorities have identified the two Bay Area victims from the fatal car crash Saturday night in Douglas County.

Ariel Lee Pierre, 27, of Ashland, and Bridget Rose Pierre, 28, of Bayfield, died Saturday night in a single-vehicle accident around 8:30 p.m. near Lake Nebagamon.

According to a release from Wisconsin State Patrol Spooner Post, they were southbound on Highway H near Lake Nebagamon when the driver lost control, left the roadway and struck a tree south of Koho Road.

When first responders arrived at the scene, they discovered the both occupants were killed in the crash.

Speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors, according to the release, which remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
