    CHARLOTTE, NC- Summer is the time of the year when many Charlotteans plan their trip to get their summer journey begin. However, to make sure your vacation only brings happy memories, consider to follow these summer safety tips.

    Before you hop on the next plane to spend your summer break in an exotic beach, you may want to double-check all preparations. Follow these safety tips from North Carolina Department of Public Safety:

    1. Travel Safety

    If you want to go on a road trip, please prepare your vehicle accordingly. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reveals that June, July, and August are the months in which vehicle crashes often occurred. The collisions were mostly caused by excessive speeding or distracted driver. To prevent it from happening, plan your route ahead carefully and take plenty of rest before you go. Check the oil, tire pressure, battery power, washer fluid, or tread depth of your vehicle.

    2. Heat Safety

    Even if you can’t wait to be soaked in sun, keep in mind that being exposed to high temperature can result in heat-related illness such as heat cramps, exhaustion, or heatstroke. If you are outside, make sure you wear light colored clothing and drink plenty of fluids. If possible remain indoors during 11 AM through 2 PM or take frequent breaks by finding shady areas when working outdoors.

    3. Water safety

    Water sport is a fun activity to be enjoyed in summer. Before heading out to your water adventure, make sure to check the weather in case the storms can appear quickly around the wave. Avoid swimming of paddling in fast-moving water. Make sure every person wears U.S Coast Guard approved life jacket with proper equipment.
