100 years agoNick Burgraff of Idaho Falls had a whopper of a story to tell this week in July 1924, displaying to friends a 24-pound, 42-inch trout caught in Goose Lake near Jackson, Mont. “It was caught with a big spinner while Burgraff was angling from a raft near the shore of the lake,” a newspaper account in the South Idaho Press said. “He was obliged to play with the fish for nearly an hour before landing (it), and then was obliged to shoot it before he could pull it in. The big trout was one of a big lot caught, many of which weighed 10 pounds.”

Today marks a victory for the students at Centre Square Apartments behind a petition to limit the operating hours of the complex’s courtyard lights. In May, a group of students banded together to create a petition requesting that the floodlights at the complex be turned off earlier each night.
