Not only is the area celebrating the Lake Mary All-Stars, but a team from Altamonte Springs is also making headlines. The Altamonte Springs Baseball Academy’s 11U team is on top after winning the Cal Ripken World Series earlier this month.

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic men's soccer led Stetson 3-1 after 53 minutes on Thursday when the game was suspended due to lightning. The match may be resumed later in the season if both teams agree. No final decision was made on Thursday night. If at least 70 minutes are not completed, it's deemed a no-contest.

Women's Soccer Drops Contest Against the Hatters, 1-0
DeLand, Fla. – FIU women's soccer drops their second contest of the season, falling to Stetson University, 1-0 and dropping their record to 3-2. FIU had their chances in the first half, but despite nine shots and four shots on goal in the first 45 minutes, the Panthers and Hatters went into the break deadlocked at 0-0. Senior Noemi Paquin led the charge with three shots and two shots on goal in the opening frame.
Manhattan falls twice on opening day
BCU won 3-1 (16-25, 25-19, 17-25, 19-25) Manhattan took an 8-3 lead in the opening following a kill from senior outside hitter. Maike Bertens. However, BCU rattled off 11 of the next 14 points, using a kill from Ariel Simmons to take a 14-11 lead. The Jaspers would get back into the set by cutting it to 21-15, but couldn't overcome a combination of unforced errors and a lack of blocking.
