Cher takes on the world with the help of local artistic director and choreographer Doriana Sanchez
ATASCADERO — The creative work relationship between the legendary Cher and local artistic director and choreographer Doriana Sanchez started back in 1987 when Cher saw Sanchez in the classic ’80s film “Dirty Dancing.” Cher asked for dance lessons for a music video, and the film’s choreographer, Kenny Ortega, sent Sanchez. In November, Sanchez headed out on the road as Cher’s artistic director to help promote her new holiday album “Christmas,” which dropped back in October.

Emergency services respond to RV fire leaving one injured
TEMPLETON — On Nov. 24, at 7:40 a.m., emergency services responded to a reported RV fire at 988 Vineyard Drive in Templeton. The incident involved a 20-foot RV fully engulfed in flames next to a large church. Responders, including Templeton Fire Chief 7100, Engine 7195, SLO County Fire Engine 30, Atascadero Fire Engine 7591, and Paso Robles Fire Truck 8141, arrived on the scene.
Los Osos man arrested for assault with a deadly weapon
SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY — On Nov. 26, San Luis Obispo County Sheriff Deputies responded to a report of a gunshot wound victim in the 1900 block of 10th Street in Los Osos. Sheriff’s Detectives were called to the scene to investigate, confirming that a shooting had taken place. The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Christian CambrayMartinez of Los Osos, was located and apprehended by deputies.
Rain has no effect on Fall Festival crowds
ATASCADERO — As the saying goes, a little rain never hurt anybody, and attendees of Atascadero’s Third Annual Fall Festival agreed. The rain or shine festival rolled into the Sunken Gardens on Friday, Nov. 17; Saturday, Nov. 18; and Sunday, Nov. 19, giving festivalgoers a beautiful view of City Hall while enjoying live music, food, vendors, and fair rides.
Atascadero High School debuts local student’s play
ATASCADERO — The Atascadero High School (AHS) drama department is keeping things in-house for its 2023 fall production. Instead of doing a play penned by one of the many popular playwrights out there, this year’s fall play is written by AHS’s very own Karson Deveraux. Deveraux is a junior who reached out to drama teacher Shawna Volpa and asked her to look over his play, “Cowboy Noir and His Gang of Misfits,” and the rest is history that you can see on stage for yourself.
County continues efforts to expand Bob Jones Trail

ATASCADERO — The Atascadero Community Band recently performed its Fall Concert, “Around the World in 80 Notes”, which included the premiere of the Tent City Rag. It was well attended by loyal audience members and local dignitaries as well, and due to the incredible generosity of the audience, the ACB is thrilled to donate $1,011 to the San Luis Obispo Instrumental Music Booster Association (SLOIMBA), which seeks to enhance the Marching, Concert, and Jazz Band programs at San Luis Obispo High School and Laguna Middle School.
