A Barrow County man was killed Thursday afternoon in Oconee County in a three-vehicle crash along a stretch of Atlanta Highway between Bogart and Statham.

The wreck occurred shortly before 4:30 p.m. at the Dials Mill Road intersection, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The wreck claimed the life of Bradley Edwards, 45, of Winder, according to Oconee County Coroner Ed Carson. Edwards’ 10-year-old son was injured, but was released from a hospital on Friday.

The patrol said a 2007 Infiniti G35 and a 2003 Toyota Corolla were both traveling west on Atlanta Highway when the Infiniti driver slowed to make a left turn onto Dials Mill Road.

The Corolla, which was following too close, steered to the left to avoid hitting the Infiniti, but it crossed the centerline and struck an eastbound Ram 1500, according to the report.

The Ram traveled off the road and overturned, ejecting the driver who sustained the fatal injuries, the patrol reported.

The Corolla became disabled in the middle of the road and the Infinity came to a stop on the road shoulder, according to the report.

The Corolla driver, 33-year-old Duriangell Jose Jaramillo-Contreras, was charged with vehicular homicide, following too close and failing to maintain a lane. He remains in the Oconee County Jail without bond.

The patrol is continuing its investigation.
