A tractor-trailer rig ran over and killed a man who was lying on a state highway in Oglethorpe County early Friday, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The patrol reported that troopers were dispatched at 1:47 a.m. to a location on Georgia Highway 22, which is known locally as Crawfordville Road. The location is south of Lexington in the vicinity of Salem Church Road.

“It was determined that for unknown reasons a pedestrian was laying in the middle of Georgia 22 with his body across both lanes of travel,” GSP reported.

The truck driver, who was traveling west, did not see the man and ran over him, troopers said.

The  truck driver pulled over and called 911 to report the fatality. The identity of the man had not been released by late Friday.

Wow! It could have been suicide or accidental or homicide( he could have already been dead and laid there.
