The Athens-Clarke County government issued a list of safety measures that residents can take in the event of damage and power outages that may occur with the arrival of the Hurricane Helene storm Thursday.

The storm is being monitored by fire, police, public works public utilities and other offices within the government, according to the release.

While the impact of the storm is unknown, heavy rain and winds could cause flooding, along with downed trees and power lines.

Agencies in the government are preparing to respond to these potential emergencies.
