“What you’ve got to try to do is create the opportunities with your matchups, create opportunities, and try to do what you can do to get a step or maybe have that defense freeze or flinch,” first-year Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer said.
Georgia quarterback Carson Beck and Alabama counterpart Jalen Milroe can raise their profile as Heisman Trophy candidates in this game.
“It’s so important for us to have fun, play fast, free and fearless,” Milroe said of the Crimson Tide.
NFL talent will be on display.
Georgia has first-round talent in Beck, safety Malaki Starks, defensive end Mykel Williams, trying to return from an ankle sprain and linebacker Jalon Walker. Alabama has players NFL scouts are watching in Milroe, top offensive linemen Tyler Booker and Jaeden Roberts and linebacker Jihad Campbell.
“They’re a really talented team. We’re a really talented team,” Georgia inside linebacker Samel Mondon said. “It’s going to be exciting.”
This is DeBoer’s first time coaching in an SEC game.
“Welcome to the SEC, right?” he said.
