At the request of Athens County residents, the Ohio Conference of Branches of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), will hold an organizational meeting to start the process of chartering an adult Unit in the community.

The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. Monday, June 3, at the Ohio University Inn and Conference Center located at 331 Richland Ave., Athens.

The Athens County community must have at least 100 people to join the NAACP in order to be officially chartered. There will be an election of temporary officers during the meeting.

The moderator will be NAACP Image Award winning Dr. Derrick L. Foward, President of the Dayton Unit NAACP and Trainer and Compliance Officer for the Ohio Conference NAACP. If you are interested in establishing a Unit of the NAACP in Athens County, join us tonight.
