It’s no secret that the state of Georgia has been a fantastic pool of talent for college recruiters. Travis Hunter out of Collins Hill, Will Anderson out of Dutchtown and Dylan Raiola out of Buford are just a few recent examples. But how is Georgia’s recruitment going now? Well, in short, you’ll be able to spot a kid from Georgia in a whole lot of college football games this year.
Within the state, the University of Georgia is obviously a major player. Their recruiting class is currently ranked third in the country, and 11 of their 19 commits are from the Peach State. In fact, five of the top six recruits in the state of Georgia are headed to Athens. But, strangely, the powerhouse Bulldogs are not the largest Power Five recruiter of in-state talent this year. It’s Georgia Tech, which has 14 hard commits from Georgia natives.

Outside of Georgia, many recruits are choosing Florida. Florida State is doing work within the Peach State, securing three commits from Georgia, while USF has five, the University of Florida has one, and UCF has a commitment from Thomas County’s Dee Reddick, along with two other Georgians.

Georgia has also been well-represented on the national stage. According to 247 Sports, 11 kids out of Georgia are listed in the 2025 class top 100. 35 players from Georgia are currently committed to schools ranked in the top 20 of recruiting classes nationwide. UGA obviously helps with that, but multiple schools like Alabama, Miami, Michigan, Clemson, and Tennessee will welcome kids from Georgia to their locker rooms. Interestingly, the schools in the top 20 that have recruited the most from Georgia, outside of UGA, are Auburn and Rutgers. Auburn has five commits from GA and Rutgers, who have built up a top 50 leading 29 commitments and a number 16 ranking, has snagged four players from Georgia.

Needless to say, the state of Georgia and its 2025 class will be all over the landscape of college football very soon. This season alone with provide some serious intrigue from the Georgia high school football faithful. Travis Hunter will look to take the next step under Deion Sanders and establish himself as the best player in college football. Dylan Raiola is hoping for a freshman phenom type year that catapults the Cornhuskers out of obscurity. Brock Vandergriff will be looking to assume the starting quarterback role at Kentucky and help the Wildcats bounce back from a poor 7-6 2023. This is certainly an exciting time for Georgians around the world of college football.
