Is it possible to come up with more takeaways? It’s hard to argue with the overall production of the defense, but the pass rush wasn’t anything great and there weren’t enough big plays.
The D came up with a grand total of one fumble recovery before the Orange Bowl debacle against Florida State, and it failed to pick off a pass at Tennessee, at Georgia Tech, or in the SEC Championship to close out the regular season.
Georgia Key Player
Colbie Young, WR Sr. The tight end combination of Ben Yurosek and Oscar Delp will get the job done in place of Brock Bowers, and everywhere else is covered. It would be nice, though, to get a bit more out of the deep shots from the X, and that’s where the Miami transfer comes in.
Colbie Young only averaged 11.8 yards per catch in his two seasons with the Hurricanes, making 79 grabs for 930 yards and ten scores.
Georgia Football Top Transfer, Biggest Transfer Loss
Top Transfer In: Trevor Etienne, RB Jr. Let’s just say it’s been a bit rocky this offseason for the Florida transfer - there were issues with DUI and reckless driving charges that were later dropped - but on the field it’s all systems go now. The talented back ran for 1,472 yards and 14 touchdowns in his two seasons with the Gators, and he can catch, too.
Top Transfer Out: Jamon Dumas-Johnson, LB Sr. The Georgia linebacking corps is still more than fine, but it lost a solid part of the rotation. Dumas-Johnson made 125 tackles with 9.5 sacks and 17 tackles for loss over the last three seasons, and now he’s taking over the weakside of the Kentucky linebacking corps.
Georgia Key Game
at Ole Miss, Nov. 9 Yeah, the world will be jacked for the trip to Alabama, and the date at Texas is a big deal, and the opener against Clemson matters, but this is the dog days moment. Ole Miss is the third game in a row away from Athens, it comes right after the Cocktail Party with Florida and right before Tennessee.

Georgia Football 2024 Win Total Prediction: What to Expect This Season
Let’s just say the 2023 Georgia schedule was tad … lacking.
The 2024 version more than makes up for it.
Clemson, at Kentucky, at Alabama, at Texas, Florida, at Ole Miss - and those are just the games away from home. For most mortal teams, that’s a season-ender before the first kickoff.
There might be a loss in this bunch, but this Georgia team can handle the slate. There could even be two losses and everything will be okay for the CFP, but there won't be a third.
That doesn’t include the have-to-still-make-the-putt home games against Auburn and Mississippi State, and the late November dates against Tennessee and Georgia Tech.
But Georgia is just that much better than almost everyone else, the team should feed off the weekly battles, and even after a rough moment there will be another trip to the SEC Championship.
This time, it’ll be followed up by a spot in the College Football Playoff as the odds on favorite to win the national title.
50/50 Games: at Alabama, Auburn, Clemson (in Atlanta), Florida (in Jacksonville), Georgia Tech, at Kentucky, at Ole Miss, Tennessee, at Texas
