After suffering a ruptured patella tendon that kept him out for the entirety of the 2023 season, Georgia running back Branson Robinson seems to be well on the way to a return in 2024. Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart recently updated Robinson’s status.

When asked at SEC media days regarding Robinson’s status, Smart said that Robinson, “Looks really good. I won’t say he’s 100 percent cleared, but man, he looks great out there running.” Smart said Robinson has cut some weight to put less pressure on his knees and should be “close” to 100 percent leading into fall camp. Smart also provided injury updates on several other Bulldogs including safety Malaki Starks and linebacker Smael Mondon.

A highly touted four-star recruit in the class of 2022 out of Madison, Mississippi, Robinson showed great flashes for the Bulldogs in 2022. He recorded 68 carries for 330 yards and three touchdowns, including a season high 98 yards on 14 carries against Auburn. He also scored two touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ 65-7 thrashing of TCU in the national title game.

Robinson is one of three scholarship running backs on the UGA roster with playing experience heading into the 2024 season, along with Florida transfer Trevor Etienne and Roderick Robinson.
