The 2024 season is almost here. Georgia is set to begin preseason camp this week on Thursday, August 1. It’ll be Kirby Smart’s ninth team in Athens and it’s looking to reach dynasty status by winning a third National Championship in four years.

The team has had the summer to get bigger, stronger, and faster and the pads will be popping soon. DawgsHQ has guided its readers through a week-by-week, position-by-position breakdown of the roster and we’re to the final leg. Next up we list three cornerbacks to watch in 2024.

    Julian Humphrey

The Texas native flirted heavily with the transfer portal in December. He went as far as announcing his intentions to enter in January and that came after Humphrey had indicated that he wouldn’t be leaving. It was a bit of a roller coaster ride but, in the end, he stayed at Georgia for such a time as this.

Georgia is looking for a starting cornerback and Humphrey is in good position to be the guy. He is a natural cover guy who struggles some with the more physical aspects of the game. Whether or not he wins the job will probably come down to the work he has put in this offseason.

    Daniel Harris

It’s rare to see a cornerback with Harris’ skillset. The highly-sought-after combination of elite size/length and elite speed just doesn’t come around very often. He used that skillset to generate plenty of buzz on the Georgia practice fields last fall and eventually worked himself into some playing time in the Orange Bowl with Humphrey still banged up.

Harris, too, flirted with the transfer portal. He announced intentions to enter prior to the Orange Bowl before deciding to return and play in that game. Like Humphrey, he came back to compete for the job and is in position to strike. Harris is going to be a factor if so long as he stays healthy and odds are he’ll earn at least one or two starts at the position.

    Ellis Robinson

The rich got richer in the 2024 class when Georgia landed Robinson, the nation’s No. 1 cornerback across the board. Robinson is a tremendous talent. I might even go as far as to say that he has a lot of the same strengths as both Humphrey and Harris all in one package.

With that said, Georgia is big on experience in the defensive backfield and Robinson has a lot to learn. Most of that can only be learned by playing and I do expect him to be on the field in meaningful situations this fall. He’s too talented to keep off the field.
