Josh Pate’s Blunt Response To Georgia’s Nightmare Offseason

There's been more bad than good for the Georgia Bulldogs this offseason.

While Kirby Smart's 2024 squad is the favorite to win it all in 2024, off-the-field issues continue to mount.

UGA has had at least 29 arrests or citations for speeding, reckless driving, or racing since January 2023. Wide receiver Rara Thomas was arrested last week for two charges, including one for cruelty to children.

College football fans and SEC fans alike have not been reserved in responding to the "culture" questions in Athens.

While CBS Sports analyst Josh Pate does not condone the consistent mistakes surrounding the Bulldogs, he did share a unique take about the backlash Georgia has received from opposing SEC fanbases on a recent episode of 'Late Kick With Josh Pate'.

"Most of you can't beat Georgia on the field," Pate said. "That's what it boils down to. So this is as close as a lot of you get to a victory over Georgia, because if it was happening at UL Monroe, all due respect, I don't think any of us would hear much about it."

Georgia has won two national championships and lost two games since losing to Alabama in the 2021 SEC Championship. This string of dominance has put UGA in the national spotlight, which means every area, especially off-field issues, will be scrutinized.

It's up to the Georgia program, all included, to make the necessary change of direction.

“The incidents that we’ve had off the field are not something that we condone," Smart said at SEC Media Days.
