The Athens-Clarke County Courthouse on East Washington Street partially reopened Wednesday morning, county officials announced.

The courthouse was closed for more than a week after bedbugs were found inside.

“Although no bedbug activity was found on any floor during the most recent inspection of the courthouse on July 30, municipal court and the law library will remain closed,” according to the announcement.

Those two spaces will reopen at 8 a.m. Aug. 5.

For those with court appearances between July 22-31, court staff will send notifications of the rescheduled court dates, officials said. Those affected may also contact the appropriate court to seek information on updated schedules.
