Navigating parking and buses in college can be tricky, but knowing the rules and schedules can prevent hefty fines and confusion.

The University of Georgia offers transit options day and night, but parking is limited. Here is what you need to know.

Is there free parking on campus?

No, there is no free parking on the Main Campus or the Health Sciences Campus during weekday operating hours. All areas require a permit or a pass.

Parking on campus without a valid permit results in a $50 citation, which can escalate to $275 with eight or more violations.

Visitors can pay to park in a visitor deck or ParkMobile lot. Some areas are not enforced during the evenings, nights and weekends.

Can freshmen bring cars to campus?

Yes, freshmen can bring cars to campus, but parking is very limited, and having a permit is not guaranteed. Registration and assignment of a permit based on a priority system are required.

    Services

Motorist Assistance Program MAP offers free help to parking permit holders and guests from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. on weekdays. Services include:

    • Jump-starts
    • Search (help finding car)
    • Lights-on notices
    • Assistance / directions for campus events

The College Station Park & Ride (lot E23) offers a low-cost parking option for $10 each month. From there, a UGA bus off the paved multi-use trail can be used to travel to campus.

    UGA Transit

UGA Transit operates throughout the day and night, providing transportation across campus. The service is available to students, faculty, staff and visitors, ensuring access to every part of campus.

Bus routes may change based on campus needs. For live tracking and the latest route information, use the UGA App or visit routes.uga.edu .
