Athens' tennis grabs first victory with sweep over Circleville

CIRCLEVILLE - Athens’ tennis picked up its first victory of the young season in dominant fashion, going on the road to sweep Circleville 5-0 with seniors stuffing the scoresheet on the court.

In the No. 1 singles spot, the Bulldogs’ Vlada Kiryukhin took down Marie Huggins 6-2, 6-0. Lizzy Castelino swept the No. 2 singles match with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Cora Wilson. In the No. 3 slot, Zain Al Kadi fought a tough battle but came away on top with a 5-7, 7-5, (10-6) victory over Olivia Riddick.

In doubles competition, the team of Addy McGarry and Kenna Ausseresses cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory in the No. 1 slot. The No. 2 team of Iris Kachencho and Leah Swatzel completed the team sweep with an easy 6-0, 6-1 victory.
