    Athens' golf secures season sweep with final TVC victory

    JACKSON — Athens’ golf controlled the course in 2024.

    Playing in the final Tri-Valley Conference match of the year, the Bulldogs once again won the team competition, completing a season sweep of conference play and securing the conference crown at Franklin Valley Golf Course. Athens went 8-0 overall as a team on the year.

    Adding on to the joyous accomplishments for the Bulldogs, Athens’ Ellie Beck-Aden medaled once again for her sixth low-score of the season. Federal Hocking’s Addison Jackson shot the low-score on the other two.

    Due to the efforts, Athens’ Beck-Aden will be named the TVC Girls Golf Player of the Year.

    Joining the junior for the league-winning Bulldogs team, Fern Sigman placed fourth individually with a score of 49 while Vera Kiryukhin finished ninth, shooting a 55. Mia Szweczyk (59), Addison Grueser (61) and Maelle Newton (62) also competed for Athens.

    Federal Hocking’s Jackson finished second individually with a score of 42 to help lead the fourth-place Lancers. Elizabeth Boyd (60), Maggie Kneier (60), Estelle Ripple (64) and Cora Kneier (65) also swung for Federal Hocking.

    Alexander placed sixth overall in the event, led by Greta Meyer’s 57. The Spartans also had Kaitlynn Green (58), Nina Viny (62), Addison Appleman (62) and Reegan Jordan (63) compete.
