GALLIPOLIS — Some of the area’s best did it once again with the pressure ramped up to its highest.

Competing at the Division II Girls Sectional Tournament at Cliffside Golf Course in Gallipolis, Federal Hocking’s Addison Jackson continued her stellar season by shooting a seven-over 79 to grab the individual crown at the postseason event. The next closest golfer finished 14 strokes behind the senior.

Jackson shot a 42 on the front nine before finishing off the day with a 37 on the way back.

The senior’s efforts were enough to help the Lancers qualify for Districts as a team with a fourth place finish overall. Joining her in the event was Maggie Kneier (118), Elizabeth Boyd (125), Estelle Ripple (158) and Cora Kneier (170).

Competing solo, Trimble’s Braylee Richards earned a spot in Districts as one of the four non-team qualifying spots with a 104. The freshman placed seventh individually with the score.

Also representing Athens County, Alexander wasn’t able to qualify for District in what became the team’s final event of the season. Kaitlynn Green led the Spartans with a 112 to tie for 14th individually. Joining her was Greta Meyer (110), Raegan Wandling (131), Adison Appleman (136) and Abby Mansfield (146) to help finish seventh overall.

Nelsonville-York’s Mya Schultz (144) and Kinsey Fowler (165) also competed.

Around Southeast Ohio, Athens’ Ellie Beck-Aden qualified for Districts after an impressive performance at Jaycees Golf Club. At the Division I Sectional Tournament, the junior finished second overall with a seven-over 79. The only competitor to shoot better was Jackson’s Aubrey Arnold.

Fern Sigman placed 15th overall for the Bulldogs with a 98 while Vera Kiryukhin shot 108.
