ALBANY — Coming home off an unfortunate three-game road stint, Alexander returned to The Alley on Thursday night in emphatic fashion, surviving a five-set thriller with Vinton County (7-9, 3-5 Tri-Valley Conference-Ohio) to break a three-game losing skid. The two programs traded sets through the first three with the Spartans’ (9-7, 5-3 TVC-Ohio) backs against the wall down 2-1.

At the end of the night, the scoresheet read 21-25, 25-17, 17-25, 25-10, 15-6 in favor of Alexander.

It was a two-headed effort for the Spartans on offense with Meena Juedes and Lila Moser stealing the show. In the full-length thriller, the two finished with 22 and 18 kills respectively in an impressive performance from the duo. Maddy Penrod spiked nine balls while Marissa Beach added five.

Jade Seaman finished with 49 assists to set up the offense. Kayden Bean finished with five aces.

Defensively, four different Spartans dug up double-digit balls in a team effort. Ava McCall led the way with 19 while Kaylee Johnson and Seaman each finished with 13. Moser also finished with 12 digs herself. Not too far behind, Bean also finished with nine.

Looking to build momentum after the tough win, Alexander returns to action at home on Thursday when the team hosts Meigs in a divisional showdown.
