The Ohio women's basketball has named two former players, Kaylee Gregory Bambule and Abby Garnett, as assistant coaches, announced by head coach Bob Boldon on Sept. 25

"Kaylee has been a tremendous asset to the women's basketball program at Ohio Univeristy as both a player and a coach," said Boldon. "Kaylee will take on some new responsibilities and she is more than prepared to do it. It has been great to have her around and I look forward to the next step in her coaching development."

Bambule originally joined Ohio's coaching staff as a video coordinator prior to the 2022-23 season. In her second season on the staff, the Bobcats earned a birth to the 2023-24 MAC Tournament, finishing with an 11-19 overall record and an 8-10 conference record.

During her playing career at Ohio, Bambule played in 97 games, making 36 starts, scored 284 points and tallied 106 rebounds. She participated in two WNIT's and notable wins over Ohio State, Notre Dame and Purdue. In the off season, she worked as the head development coach for the Illinois Lightning team where she handled practice planning and assisted players in team building.

"We are thrilled to have Abby on our staff at Ohio University," said Boldon. "She has a great understanding of how basketball should be played and a wonderful disposition for teaching. She will be a huge asset to our program."

Garnett was a member of the Ohio women's basketball team from 2018-2023. During her time with the Bobcats, the program made three WNIT appearances and earned notable wins over Ohio State, Notre Dame, Pitt and Purdue. Garnett was also a part of the 2018-19 team that won a program-high 30 games. In her final season with Ohio, Garnett made 29 appearances with 27 starts, led the team in field goal percentage, three-point percentage and free-throw percentage. In total, she finished her collegiate career with 261 points and 173 rebounds.

Garnett returns to Athens after spending a couple of years in positions outside of the sports field. Most recently, she served as a recruiting consultant at Consilium Staffing in Dallas, Texas. While at Ohio, Garnett worked as a basketball coach/mentor and was a student social media coordinator with the MSM program.
