    OCT. 18

    The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Emma Belle Lane, The Plains, Ohio in reference to an open line 911 Call. Deputies spoke with the homeowner and advised that it was a false dial. No further actions were needed.Deputies received a report of a suspicious male on North Plains Road. Deputies made contact with the male who was attempting to get to the Piggly Wiggly and was given a ride.Deputies responded to Rainbow Lake Road, Athens in reference to an open burn complaint. Deputies made contact with a male, who extinguished the fire. Burn laws were explained to the male, and deputies returned to patrol.Deputies responded to Connett Road in The Plains for a report of a female threatening self-harm. Deputies spoke with the female and later transported her to the hospital for a mental health evaluation. Deputies later returned to patrol.Deputies responded to Graham Road, Athens in an attempt to locate an individual with felony warrants out of Athens County. On scene deputies attempted contact at the residence but were unable to make contact with the individual. No further action needed.Deputies responded to Stonybrook Drive in Athens in reference to a burglary alarm. Deputies checked the building and determined everything to be secure. Deputies returned to patrol.Deputies responded to Old State Route 56 in New Marshfield to investigate a 911 hang-up. Deputies made contact with a resident and determined there was no emergency.Deputies responded to Minkers Run Road in Nelsonville for a suspicious vehicle report. Deputies patrolled the area and later found the vehicle at the entrance of Wayne National Forest. The vehicle appeared to be loaded with hunting gear but was unoccupied at the time. No criminal activity was observed, and deputies later returned to patrol.Deputies responded to the dog shelter to meet people that picked up a dog across the highway from Glen Ebon Road, that was almost narrowly hit by a car on the highway. The dog did not have valid tags. The animal was placed in the shelter for further intervention.Deputies patrolled East Fourth Street in The Plains after receiving a report of suspicious activity. Nothing out of the ordinary was observed.The Athens County Sheriff's Office responded to State Route 13 near Sand Ridge Road in Millfield for a report of an injured deer along the roadway. Units arrived on scene to find an injured deer who had been hit by a vehicle. The injured deer was dispatched due to the condition of the deer.While deputies were on patrol a vehicle was located in Chauncey Park after hours. The vehicle was unoccupied but had its windows down. Deputies checked the vehicle and found no signs of any suspicious activity. Deputies returned to patrol.

    OCT. 19

    Deputies were dispatched to Children Services, building 14, for an activated alarm. Deputies checked the building and found all doors to be secure and no signs of forced entry. No key holder was able to be reached. Deputies returned to patrol.Deputies were dispatched to the Dog Shelter for a dog loose around the building. Deputies located the dog and attempted to get it in a kennel. The dog did not move and when deputies got close the dog would become aggressive. Due to deputy safety the dog was unable to be placed in a kennel. Deputies returned to patrol.Deputies were dispatched to Madison St. Glouster on a report of a male who was outside screaming and shooting a gun. Upon arriving on scene, a male was taken into custody, and the firearm was recovered. Cameron A. Duell, 34 of Glouster was arrested and transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail on the charge of Discharge of Firearm upon or over a public roadway or highway. No one was injured in this incident.Deputies responded to Carpenter Road for a report of an active trespasser. Deputies arrived on scene and spoke with both parties. The male was then trespassed from the property.Deputies responded to Salem Road, Athens in reference to an assault complaint. On scene deputies spoke with the complainant, and the case was handled on scene.A resident of Stone Castle Road, Athens came to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office to report an incident of threats and harassment. A report was taken.Deputies responded to Glouster in reference to an alarm drop. On scene deputies found that everything was okay and made contact with the key holder.Deputies were dispatched to the Elm Rock Road storage units, Nelsonville on a report of property damage that occurred to a building. Deputies arrived on scene and located the damage, and vehicle debris from a vehicle that struck the building. A report was taken, and investigation is pending.Deputies responded to New Marshfield Road for a report of a suicidal female. The female was determined to meet the criteria and was transported to the hospital.Deputies were dispatched to Fast Traxx on a vehicle lock out. Deputies arrived on scene, unlocked the vehicle and returned to patrol.Deputies responded to Graham Lane, Athens in reference to a private property accidence. On scene deputies spoke with all involved parties and a report was taken.Deputies responded to Gun Club Road in New Marshfield reference to a theft of a trail camera. On October 20th, 2024, the trail camera was located, and evidence was collected, The Suspect was issued a summons for theft.Deputies responded to State Route 13 in Glouster for an abandoned vehicle on someone’s property blocking their garage. The vehicle was tagged for removal.Deputies responded to the Sandstone Apartments with a threatening report. Deputies arrived on scene and the caller was later transported by EMS to the hospital for unrelated medical issues.

    OCT. 20

    Deputies responded to Baker Road for a report of a possible suicidal female. Deputies spoke with the female who was determined to be okay and did not wish to speak with anyone.Deputies responded to The Plains for a private property crash report. On scene it was found that the parties had exchanged information, and no report was needed.Deputies responded to Clinton Street, The Plains in reference to a domestic complaint. On scene deputies made contact with Scott Smathers who has active warrants out of Hocking County. Ultimately, Scott Smathers was placed under arrest and transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail without incident.Deputies assisted a stranded motorist on Tick Ridge Road in Amesville.Deputies responded to Columbus Road, Athens in reference to a fight occurring. Deputies were informed the involved parties left the scene and were headed toward Columbus Road. Deputies patrolled the area but were unable to locate the vehicle. No further action needed.Deputies responded to State Route 682 in Athens for a 3rd party report of an active domestic dispute. Deputies discovered that a dispute did not occur and later arrested Erica Causey as she had multiple warrants out of Athens County.Deputies were dispatched to North Coolville Ridge Road on a 911 hang up call. Upon arriving on scene deputies had no contact with any persons and could not locate any emergency. Deputies returned to patrol.
