Ohio Valley Summer Theater proudly announces its upcoming production of "Young Frankenstein," the monstrously hilarious musical adaptation of Mel Brooks' classic comedy that is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Set to electrify audiences from July 12-14 and 19-21 at the Elizabeth Evans Baker Theater in Kantner Hall on Ohio University’s campus, this uproarious show promises a madcap journey into the heart of Transylvania.

Based on the beloved 1974 film, "Young Frankenstein" follows the misadventures of Frederick Frankenstein, a New York neurosurgeon who inherits his infamous grandfather's estate in Transylvania. What ensues is a riotous tale of reanimation, misunderstandings, and love, all set to an infectious score that pays homage to the golden age of Broadway.

“Our production is really for all audiences,” Heylea Allan, director of the show, said. “If you enjoy the original ‘Young Frankenstein’ movie or just love musicals, this one is for you. We really tried to honor the classics with our production, while still incorporating our own unique takes. Our cast and crew have worked extensively to bring this universe to life and it is absolutely a once in a lifetime experience that is not to be missed!”

Featuring a talented cast of local performers and Ohio University students, the cast includes Cameron Hess, Katie Maccabee, Grace Breslow, TJ Johnston, Sarah Biernacki, Summer Hartman, Benson Graham, Cameron LaGraff, Ella Langiotti, Grace Boerger, Kaitlyn Smart, Kekoa Huihui-Andrew, Melanie Moore, Michael Mylen and Sara Webb.

Accompanying Allan on bringing this show to life includes Kyle Nienaber as musical director, Maccabee who in addition to leading the show is choreographer, Alexis Parsons as stage manager, Alejandro Ramirez Nagy as assistant stage manager, Jaxon Meadows as technical director, Kit Parsons as production manager, Tobby Tao as lighting designer, Princess Ibeh as scenic designer, Aleke Dubois as sound designer, Grace Easterday as propsmaster and Gabrielle Johnston, Sam Pelham and Allan as costume designers.

Tickets for "Young Frankenstein" are available online or at the box office prior to each performance. Don't miss this electrifying production that will leave you in stitches — both from laughter and from the heartwarming charm of this timeless tale.
