ATHENS, Texas ( KETK ) – Trinity Valley Community College announced a nearly $1 million plan to renovate their Athens campus’s Fine Arts Building on Thursday.

‘Excited about the journey’: New TVCC president looks to leave lasting legacy in community

“Today is the first day of excitement for a new TVCC,” TVCC president Dr. Jason Morrison said. “We are going to start focusing on how we look and how we present ourselves to the educational world. This is a great day in the history of Trinity Valley.”

The new investment in the college’s Fine Arts Building is just the first part of Morrisons plans to update and renovate facilities on all of TVCC’s campuses.

“We know what the Fine Arts program means to this school, the history, the traditions and how it supports other programs on our campuses,” Morrison said. “We have 31 national titles, and those titles could not occur without the support of our Fine Arts Department and the students invested in those programs.”

Fine Arts & Kinesiology Division Chair, Professor of Voice and Choir Director Dr. Kristin Huggins spoke about the fine arts program’s excitement for the renovations on Thursday.

“We are excited to be unveiling the newly designed plans for our space,” Huggins said.  “A space that holds decades of memories and music within its walls. This is a space where creativity has been nurtured and accepted. It’s a space where talents have been forged to a fine point.”

“With these renovations, we will have an updated, modern facility that matches our students’ passion and dedication to the arts and our faculty’s excellence in what they do,” Huggins said. “This investment tells our students that their pursuit of excellence in the performing arts is valued and supported. Today’s renovations signify more than an upgrade; they express a profound commitment to our students’ future and the growth of our community.”

Abigail Vines, a returning TVCC fine arts student, expressed her excitement about the announcement of the renovation plans.

“I am filled with joy and excitement to see the Fine Arts Building being remodeled, and I can’t wait to see all the changes made,” said Vines.

TVCC said the renovations will be complete by mid-September and that the building will be ready for students in the fall. To learn more, visit Trinity Valley Community College online .
