Vermont faces lawsuit over climate change law
(The Center Square) — A regional environmental group plans to sue Vermont over a climate change law, alleging that the state isn't complying with mandates to reduce its carbon footprint. The Conservation Law Foundation said it had sent a notice of alleged violation to Vermont’s secretary of the Agency of Natural Resources for "failing to meet the legal responsibilities" set by the Global Warming Solutions Act to reduce "climate-damaging" emissions. This week, U.S. Senator Peter Welch and 13 colleagues urged the Ambassadors of Israel and Egypt to help critically ill Palestinian children leave Gaza for medical treatment and improve access to life-saving care for children in need. The senators emphasized the importance of not hindering injured children from receiving necessary medical care and called for cooperation to ensure safe passage and increased access to treatment. Meetings with the Ambassadors were also requested to further discuss facilitating safe passage for children in need.

The state of Vermont will be opening State Flood Recovery Centers in Barre, Hinesburg, Lyndonville, and Plainfield. While the state is still awaiting a determination on whether any counties are eligible for FEMA public assistance or individual assistance, these centers will help those impacted by this month’s floods navigate the recovery process.
