TNT's existing media rights deal is set to expire at the conclusion of the 2024-25 NBA season.

Earlier this year, the league informed TNT that it would accept other offers for media rights — potentially ending the decades-long run of the award-winning show Inside the NBA.

On Monday, TNT released a statement announcing the company's decision to match one of the offers extended to the league.

“In an effort to continue our long-standing partnership, during both exclusive and non-exclusive negotiation periods, we acted in good faith to present strong bids that were fair to both parties,” TNT said in its statement. “Regrettably, the league notified us of its intention to accept other offers for the games in our current rights package, leaving us to proceed under the matching rights provision, which is an integral part of our current agreement and the rights we have paid for under it.

“We have reviewed the offers and matched one of them,” the statement continued. “Our matching paperwork was submitted to the league today. We look forward to the NBA executing our new contract.”

TNT is reportedly matching the offer extended by Amazon — an offer of around $1.8 billion per year.

TNT has held NBA media rights for the last 35 years. Through that time, Inside the NBA has become one of the most beloved sports shows of all time. Shaquille O'Neal, Charles Barkley, Kenny "The Jet" Smith and Ernie Johnson have become synonymous with primetime NBA coverage.

It's currently unclear if the NBA will accept TNT's offer.
