After three consecutive losses to Michigan, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day enters next season under tremendous pressure to beat the Wolverines and compete for a national title.

The Buckeyes had one of the best offseasons in college football, headlined by a loaded transfer class that included multiple instant-impact players. Alabama's Caleb Downs, Kansas State's Will Howard, and Ole Miss' Quinshon Judkins all signed with the Buckeyes this offseason.

ESPN's Paul Finebaum named Ohio State the No. 1 team in college football earlier this year due to the Buckeyes' returning talent. Despite the optimism, Finebaum shared some critical thoughts about Day's interview during Big Ten Media Days.

"Here's the problem with talking about Ryan Day. You look at his record... It's gaudy; nobody has a record like him except you can't choke the biggest game of the year and to me, if he can't beat Michigan this year when he's probably got the best team in the country, along with Georgia. After Harbaugh leaves, all those great players depart after a national championship... He oughta to be gone. I mean, it's as simple as that."

Day is 56-8 as the Buckeyes' head coach, including leading them to a CFP National Championship appearance in 2020. Under Day, the Buckeyes have finished the season ranked in the top 10 of the AP Top 25 poll in five consecutive seasons.

The Buckeyes also return multiple key contributors on both sides of the ball, headlined by defensive end J.T. Tuimoloau and running back Tre'Veyon Henderson. Ohio State finished last season 11-2, but the season ended in disappointment as the Buckeyes lost to Missouri in the Cotton Bowl.

Ohio State will kick off the 2024 season against Akron on Aug. 31 in Columbus. The Buckeyes are looking to win their first national title since 2014.
